Calum is a PhD student co-supervised by Paul Beales, Mike Webb and Kerrie Davies, who joined the ACROPATH team in October 2025. Calum's research project focusses on the development of hybrid vesicle production methods and the validation of artificial binding proteins for antigen sensing. He will also investigate the long-term stability and storage requirements of the final artCells and collaborate with teams from Leeds Teaching Hospitals to support the clinical translation of the artCell system.
Calum obtained a BSc in Immunology & Pharmacology from the University of Strathclyde. He then obtained an MSc in Gene and Stem Cell Therapies from Imperial College London. His master's research focussed on the development of novel virus-like particles and cell-derived vesicles for protein delivery. Following his master's, Calum worked in the Department of Structural and Molecular Biology at University College London, investigating the function of phospholipase C membrane proteins and their role in disease.
