Yutetsu Kuruma

Yutetsu Kuruma is an expert in the construction of lipid membrane vesicles and the creation of artificial cells. He will lead the Japan based strand of the vesicle aspects of the ACROPATH project.

Yutetsu Kuruma is a researcher in synthetic biology and cell-free biotechnology. He is currently affiliated with Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) as a senior researcher. He received his Ph.D. in Life Science from University of Tokyo.

His research focuses on cell-free protein synthesis, development of artificial cells, and membrane protein reconstitution. He has contributed to the development of virus-like particle vaccines and synthetic cell systems for biomedical and biotechnological applications. His role in this project is the development of artificial cell formation using a cell-free system (PURE system) and hybrid membrane vesicles.
